The good old days are here again ...
The Duchess is no stranger to the world of electronic music. She is deeply rooted in the Canadian electronic music scene and has been since its underground days.
Originating from the prairies of Saskatchewan Canada, The Duchess drew inspiration from local early 1990's promoters and DJs: Plastic Puppet Motive club and friend Deko-ze, Kevin K and Techno Tom (DJ's from local radio CFCR's "New House Culture" Show)
Her debut gig was opening for the legendary Saskatoon's "Souled Out Wednesday", a resident night, promoting local talent, developed by local DJ and producer Dr J of Roots Forward Records.

...THE BOMB SQUAD IS BACK!!!
Hey you, Edzy Unique 3 here. I wanted to share with you one of the very few memories I have managed to retain over the last 30 years ...
On the 27th July 1990, I took a very deep breath and crossed my fingers behind my back. I only really prayed to God when I wanted something. As much as I wanted this, I acknowledged that I should save those requests for more life-threatening times. Fate was going to have to show up today and help me with THIS one.
It had taken seven months of seriously hard work and planning and a shit load of money. And now this was it. We were testing a brand new community radio station’s set up. So many things could be wrong. This WAS an exact science. The hardware and transmission equipment: all handcrafted, You couldn’t buy this stuff off the internet. There was no friggin’ internet!
You couldn’t buy this gear in the shops either, it wasn't quite legal to make, to buy or to own. You had to find someone who could make this stuff, and these people were seriously undercover!
This was the signal test day. I wasn’t sure I could go through anymore let downs. We had pulled ourselves through 8 false starts already, and I was quietly starting to think that this would never happen. As power surged through the transmitter I closed my eyes and imagined its journey along the circuit board, through the transistors and oscillators, any one of those elements inside these handcrafted boxes could be a dud, and this would be failure number 9.
Lurking at various phone boxes around Yorkshire, a hand-picked group of questionable but loveable types. Most had been up all night with excitement, the Freaks come out at night, right? This was our squad, car doors open, systems turned on and up, tuned into 99.9FM, each one with the phone box phone in hand and my pager number scribbled in the most legible writing I could muster at that time.
I cautiously reached down to press play on the left deck. Silence, then a crackle followed by a ghost of some semi recognisable sound, then, sharp, loud and clear as a church bell - Loose Ends - Emergency (Dial 999) broke through the silence.
My pager buzzed to life on my trouser belt where I, looking back, foolishly wore it as some kind of badge of office!
The incoming messages were as clear as the station signal itself:-
The music was out there, the station equipment was working, and our music was reaching the furthest corners of our little world.
